Wolfspeed, Inc., a semiconductor company, focuses on silicon carbide and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies in Europe, Hong Kong, China, rest of Asia Pacific, the United States, and internationally. The company offers silicon carbide and GaN materials, including silicon carbide bare wafers, epitaxial wafers, and GaN epitaxial layers on silicon carbide wafers to manufacture products for RF, power, and other applications. It also provides power devices, such as silicon carbide Schottky diodes, metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs), and power modules for customers and distributors to use in applications, including electric vehicles comprising charging infrastructure, server power supplies, solar inverters, uninterruptible power supplies, industrial power supplies, and other applications.
3 Reasons to Watch WOLF
- GE Aerospace Just Handed WOLF a Major Catalyst. Wolfspeed locked in a collaboration with GE Aerospace to accelerate high-voltage silicon carbide adoption, which is a significant pivot away from the EV market that has been dragging the stock down. Defense and aerospace applications carry fatter margins and more predictable demand, so this deal could meaningfully change how investors think about the business.
- The Stock Just Put Up a Monster Week. Wolfspeed closed Friday up nearly 18% in a single session and is now up more than 27% over the past 30 days, with a jaw-dropping 263% gain over the last 90 days. When markets reopen Monday, all eyes will be on whether that momentum holds or whether profit-takers step in to cool things off.
- New IR Leadership Signals a Push for Credibility. Wolfspeed announced the appointment of a seasoned investor relations leader to improve engagement with the investment community, which is the kind of move a company makes when it wants Wall Street paying closer attention. After a rough stretch, better communication around the defense pivot and the GE Aerospace deal could help close the gap between the story management is telling and what the market is pricing in.
